Our Garden Blog
This Tuesday we had our first ever Garden Club Farmers Market. We harvested spring onions, bok choy, parsley and sunflowers and sold them for a gold coin donation. It was such a success that we've decided to continue each Tuesday, until the end of term 4. Come along from 8:45-9:15am and get yourself some of the freshest produce in the Revesby area.
This blog post will be the last for the year. It concludes a wonderful year working together in the garden with some awesome little green thumbs. We have worked together to create a thriving garden and I have loved every minute of it. We now have a new garden bed along the back fence which has become our 'mini orchard' complete with apple and orange tree. I can't wait to see the students start harvesting the fruit that will grow next year. Thank you to all the parents, teachers and students who have supported us. Signing off for 2016, Mrs Mills

This Tuesday morning the Garden Club replaced spades with knives and got to work preparing home-made garlic bread to sell at afternoon tea. There was more than enough parsley in the garden bed, so the team got busy chopping and spreading the garlic butter over some fresh bread sticks. It turned out to be a huge success and we sold out within 10 minutes flat! It was a success for the environment too as we only needed 6 aluminium trays to heat up the garlic bread, which was then handed out in brown paper bags. The children were then asked to compost their bags when finished.
We raised enough money to buy some mulch and fertiliser to keep our soil in top condition, with enough left over for some seeds for next season's crop.....any suggestions? |
